Runner for our stairs
We got a runner for our stairs!
As some of you may know I have been trying to find a runner for our stairs for a while now. With three kids and two (sometimes three) dogs in this house it was a necessity. We also decided to have them painted black after the wear and tear on the white paint got to be too much for me.
I finally decided on one that I found on Overstock for a great price, and once it arrived I was pretty happy because it was exactly what I had been looking for. I ordered two 2'6x12' pieces, which we cut down to fit the stairs but all and all, a perfect fit.
I love sisal because it has a great texture, it's durable but not too rough for bare feet...no one wears shoes in our house, ever! I also wanted a bound edge sisal runner because even though part of me was concerned about it looking dingy over time, I love the finished look and figured I would take my chances. I'm happy to say that its been wearing quite well even with shoe traffic.
This runner has a no slip backing on it so there wasn't really a concern that it would move around a lot on the stairs but we also had the concern that if it were to move while the dogs were on it, it could cause a fall so Brian felt that it was best to staple the runner along the binding which actually hid the staples pretty well.
Overall I'm super happy I found a great fit for the stairs and now I don't have to worry about anyone or any dogs slipping down the stairs! It also adds warmth to the all the black and the staircase finally feels finished.
